Matthew Gayle

Matt grew up in Mathews County, VA. After graduating from high school in 2011, he majored in pre-law political science at Longwood University, graduating in 2015. He then enrolled in law school in Charleston, SC to obtain his J.D. Upon moving back to VA, Matt found his start in law at a creditors’ rights firm in Virginia Beach, VA, which saw him travel all over the commonwealth handling both General District and Circuit Court level trials, affording him the unique opportunity to gain valuable experience applicable to the expectations and procedures found throughout the varying jurisdictions of the state. After serving as in-house counsel for his first firm, his experience in contract law, asset recoveries, and a personal interest in real estate law brought him to join Caplan Law Group.

Matt enjoys staying busy in his free time. Never one to sit at home for too long, he can be found visiting friends and family, enjoying outdoor activities, or almost any activity on or near the water; the majority of his summers are spent on his boat in the Mobjack Bay. When circumstances lend a more sedentary approach, he enjoy painting, playing the piano or watching true crime TV shows. Matt currently resides in Williamsburg, VA with his dachshund, Ellie Mae.
